The title is (surprise) what will show up in the title area when something looks at the page, assuming that whatever is looking uses a user-agent that shows titles.

The title can contain almost any character, but can't contain other HTML. Note that most windowmanagers will truncate Really Long Titles to fit within the window titlebar.
